How to use the Tip Calculator
Enter the bill and choose tip
Enter the total bill amount and choose the tip percentage using the slider or preset buttons. Common presets include 0%, 10%, 15%, 18%, 20% and 25%. The results update instantly showing the tip amount, total bill with tip, and the per-person amount.
Split the bill
Use the + and – buttons to set the number of people splitting the bill. The per-person amount updates automatically, showing exactly how much each person owes including their share of the tip. Works for any group size and any currency.
Standard US tipping is 18-20%; in the UK, 10-12.5% is more typical and many restaurants already add a 'discretionary service charge'. In Japan, tipping is often considered rude — service is included as a cultural norm.
