Final Grade Calculator
Work out the score you need on your final exam to hit your target grade. Enter your current grade, the grade you want, and how much the final is worth.
How to use
What you need to know
You need three numbers: your current grade before the final, the overall grade you're aiming for, and how much the final exam counts toward your total mark (its weight).
The formula
Required final score = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight. The calculator does this for you and flags if the required score is above 100% (impossible) or below 0% (already secured).
Reading the result
If the number is achievable, that's your goal for the exam. If it's over 100%, your target isn't reachable with this final alone. If it's negative or zero, you've already locked in your target grade.
The weighted-average method this calculator uses is the same one nearly every school and university grading system is built on — your final grade is just the sum of each component multiplied by its weight.
